Senate No Action On Oil and Commodities Market

On the first day back in session, after their 4th of July vacation, Sen Reid successfully blocked the House Bill giving the CFTC more regulatory power to investigate the commodities market for suspected manipulation of oil prices. As the price per barrel started to fall, from $145 over the weekend to $136 this morning, Sen Reid objected to further action being taken on the bill. Subsequently the bill was placed on the calender for future action. This does 2 things, a) blocks debate and further action for an undetermined amount of time, b) sends the message to speculators and the CFTC that Congress (Senate) is not serious about oil prices.

Coincidentally, not long after Sen Reid's action on the floor the oil prices stabilized and started to rise again. By noon the Senate went into recess and made no mention of the Bill working its way through the Senate supporting offshore drilling. Another unfulfilled promise by this Democratic led Congress.

One County Sheriff Making A Difference

Today in America we have one county sheriff that is and has made a difference in the lives of Americans he has sworn to serve and protect.

Article IV of the United States Constitution state in part:

"all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution..."

Every state requires that every state or local employee from governor, mayor, or Law Enforcement employee takes a solemn oath of office. Most of the sworn oaths will start with a phrase similar to:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of......"

Lately many states have been rewriting their oaths and leaving "the Constitution of the United States" out of their new and improved oaths of office. Officials in the states that are removing any reference to the United States Constitution somehow believe they are protecting themselves and their employees from retribution by the Federal Government, for failure to enforce Federal Laws and Statutes. At some point in time, if we are ever going to pull this country together as one nation, State and Local officials will have to be shown they are subject to the same Federal Laws and Statutes that every American citizen is subject to.

This one county sheriff understands his duty and has taken the oath required by our Constitution to support and defend the law that binds and holds this country together. Long ago the Civil War decided that States held certain rights but these rights did have certain limitations. Under our Constitution no State has the right to succeed from the Union and no State has the right to pass any law that will circumvent a Federal Law or Statute. Any judge will tell you being ignorant of the law is no excuse for breaking the law. Officials that are refusing to enforce Federal Laws by claiming it is not their responsibility are violating the Constitution they have sworn to uphold. As one nation we cannot endure different states deciding which Federal Law or portion of the United States Constitution they wish to abide by. With every election comes change with governors and mayors. Following or not following the Constitution at the whim of any particular governor or mayor cannot be allowed. Maybe the only solution for the chaos that is currently going on in America with the illegal immigration problem, is to elect more sheriffs like Arizona's Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio.

Tell Sen Grassley No

From: Freedom Works.org

Hidden deep in the Senate housing legislation is a sweeping provision inserted by Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) that affects the privacy and operation of nearly all of America's small businesses. The provision, which was added by the bill's managers without debate this week, would require the nation's payment systems to track, aggregate, and report information on nearly every electronic transaction to the federal government.

To read the bill and voice a protest go to Freedom Works.org

Heeeeres, ANWR The Pros And Cons

Drilling

Photobucket

FIRST… do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Now… A comparison

Photobucket

And some perspective…

Photobucket

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS…

(it’s in the “ANWR Coastal Plain”)

Photobucket

THIS IS WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND “GREENS” SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR

…and they are right… these ARE photographs of ANWR

Photobucket
Photobucket

Photobucket

ISN’T ANWR BEAUTIFUL? WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE???

WELL… THAT’S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH

Do you remember the map?

The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain

Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?

WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE…

THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!

THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER

Photobucket

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER

Photobucket

Photobucket
Photobucket

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND.

OH… AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE…

HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE
“DEPLETED WILDLIFE” SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY *…
DON’T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

Photobucket

HERE’S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

Photobucket

HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY *…

Photobucket

*The Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production

NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE LYING ABOUT ANWR?

REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID THAT
THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES TO $5.00 A GALLON

WELL, AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!

Support America's Sheriff

This was posted as a bulletin by one of my friends on myspace. I support a lot of things about America including our Military, Border Patrol and Sheriff Joe.

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.

The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. A current resident adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost = $78.

The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.

I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand. He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later.

Yes, he was reelected last year with 83% of the vote.

Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO:

HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF

AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (In Arizona) who created the ' Tent City Jail':

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut off all but 'G' movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get
Sued For Discrimination.

He took away cable TV Until he found out there was A Federal Court Order that Required Cable TV For Jails So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel.

When asked why the weather channel He Replied, So They Will Know How Hot It's Gonna Be While They Are Working
ON My Chain Gangs.

He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value.

When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton.....If You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back.

'

He bought Newt Gingrich's lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

More On The Arizona Sheriff:

With Temperatures Being Even Hotter Than Usual In Phoenix (116 Degrees Just Set A New Record), the Associated Press Reports:
About 2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment At The Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their Government-Issued
Pink Boxer Shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached
138 Degrees Inside The Week Before.

Many Were Also Swathed In Wet, Pink Towels As Sweat Collected On Their Chests And Dripped Down To Their PINK SOCKS.

'It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,' Said James Zanzot, An Inmate Who Has Lived In The TENTS for 1 year. 'It's Inhumane.

'

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.

He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'It's 120 Degrees In Iraq And Our Soldiers Are Living In Tents Too, And They Have To Wear Full Battle Gear,
But They Didn't Commit Any Crimes, So Shut Your Mouths!'

Way To Go, Sheriff!

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

When I lived in Tempe, AZ (Maricopa County) it was well known that criminals did NOT want to go to Sheriff Joe's jail. Period.

Google his name and you will be surprised!

I support him 100% and hope more of America will stop playing games with crime and get tough on criminals!!!

Gen Clark, Obama Campaign Puppet

Gen Wesley Clark has become just another Obama Campaign Puppet with his current attacks on Sen McCain. Gen Clark is standing behind his statements that Sen McCain's past military record does not make him eligible to be Commander-In-Chief. If this is the case only combat Commanders such as generals would be eligible. With this type of logic, Sen Obama must be ruled out as being eligible for President since Commander-In-Chief comes with being President. This was and is a stupid statement for a general to make regardless of his motives. This is why Gen Clark's previous Presidential campaign for his party's nomination was such a disaster.

Sen Obama has never fully apologized or excepted any responsibility for allowing Gen Clark to make such a stupid remark. Sen Obama did say there should be no place in this campaign for this type of attack, but he linked statements of Gen Clark to attacks on himself and his patriotism. With Sen Obama everything must always be about Sen Obama. There is no doubt if Sen Obama told Gen Clark to apologize and retract his remarks, Gen Clark would be on every channel doing Sen Obama's bidding.

Sen Obama was first in line to hold Sen Clinton accountable for anything and everything her supporters and campaign people said or did during the Democratic Party's Primary. Now for reasons unknown Sen Obama cannot be responsible for remarks his supporters make or the views they hold about his opponent, Sen McCain. Sen Obama would like everyone to believe his campaign is new and different. He wants people to believe he is above this type of smear politics, attacking the integrity and character of another candidate. In reality, like his previous pastor Reverend Wright said, Sen Obama is a just another politician.

If Reverend Wright knows for a fact that Sen Obama will say whatever he has to say as a politician to win, then is it hard to believe he will do anything to win, including smearing his opponent every chance he gets. Since Sen Obama has most of the media, both print and television, in his pocket he is truly the Teflon Man of the 21st century. Nothing his supporters say will be connected to Sen Obama. As the campaign season continues the smears and attacks against Sen McCain will be more and more aggressive. If Sen McCain or his supporters try to fight back and use the same tactics they will be labeled racist. Very little can be said about Sen Obama's past, or questions raised concerning his judgment and character. Bill Clinton found out how easy an opponent or an opponent's supporter can be labeled a racist during the Georgia primary.

No one can honestly believe President Clinton was or is a racist, but his remarks in Georgia comparing Sen Obama's win to that of Jessi Jackson's win will go into the history books as a racist comment. True historians will not consider them as racist but Sen Obama's supporters will not be convinced. President Clinton learned the hard way that you simply cannot question Sen Obama. While he says he will not play the race card, his supporters and surrogates will. When it happens he will not be questioned and if he is, with the media's support, any responsibility will roll off his Teflon coating.

The American people are still waiting for Sen Obama to make his promised trip to Iraq. He keeps saying he will go this summer and the media is building it up to be the trip of the century. Listening to the media you would think Sen Obama is the only person that can visit Iraq and tell the truth about how the war is going. Because Sen Obama keeps putting off his visit, he has only been there once, people are wondering if Sen Obama is waiting and hoping the situation will deteriorate before making the trip. Sen McCain has suggested and offered to make the trip a joint visit but this will never happen. If Sen Obama ever meets Gen Petraeus in Iraq it will be alone or with Obama supporters. With his one visit when the war was going badly, Sen Obama and his supporters made up their minds the war was lost. Nothing he sees or hears will change his mind. He knows, if things continue the way they are today, by the time the new American President takes over the war will be won and Iraq will be a stable American ally in the fight against Al Qaeda. He cannot tell his anti-war supporters that it will be impossible for the next President to pull all of our military out any more than he can admit that Sen McCain and Gen Petraeus were right all along. Sen Obama simply cannot admit he was wrong about Iraq, if he wants to be the next President.

The Private Character of John McCain

This is an article from the Jerusalem Post honoring the man John McCain.

A not-so-public man: the private character of John McCain

A JPost.com exclusive blog

The McCains

It's pretty amazing when you think about it. War hero John McCain has been in the public eye almost his entire adult life. He's run numerous campaigns, served in Congress for 25 years, and is in his second run for the presidency.

Yet, there is so much of his life that reveals an absolutely sterling character, but remains largely unknown to the public. And in spite of the tremendous political advantages that publicity could confer, McCain instinctively keeps that information private. Although as a presidential candidate he may be forced to overcome this reticence, he honorably shies away from using his personal heroics for political gain.

How aware is the public that McCain has raised seven children? Or that he adopted his two oldest sons as small boys (children from his wife's prior marriage)? Or that he has raised a Bangladeshi girl with severe health problems adopted from Mother Theresa's orphanage? Or that his own sons have served in the military, including in Iraq?

It's widely known that McCain, a Navy pilot, was shot down, captured and tortured by the North Vietnamese for 5 and a half years - an episode worth a forthcoming column all its own. But few are aware that he refused early release until all the POWs captured before him were freed, and that he refused special treatment offered once it was discovered that he was the "crown prince" (the son of the admiral in charge of the Pacific Fleet) because he wouldn't provide the enemy with any propaganda victories.

Even fewer seem to know that those years were a fraction of a 22-year Navy career. Although broken and battered, after his release from Vietnamese captivity he went right back to the Navy, where he continued to serve for an additional eight years.

Both Israel and America honor military service, knowing all too well the sacrifice of those who step up, stand guard, and put their lives on the line to protect their fellow citizens from the ever-present threat of harm.

Readers in Israel, where military and national service is intertwined with society perhaps more than in any other free country, especially appreciate the McCain family's tradition of military service and the intergenerational transmission of values that comes with it.

Anyone can talk about "supporting our troops"; the McCains serve. McCain's father and grandfather were respected American admirals. Of McCain's four sons, three have gone the military route. One was a Navy pilot like his father, one enlisted in the Marines at age 17 and recently completed a tour in Iraq, and one is completing his education at the Naval Academy (raising the strong possibility that, for the first time in half a century, the United States will have a president with a son at war).

Yet, likely because of those same values, McCain maintains a strict code of silence about his sons' military service, no matter how legitimate his pride or politically useful their military status. Through 2007, McCain was the strongest Senate advocate of vastly increasing troop levels in Iraq, strongly influencing the administration's wildly successful "surge" strategy.

Yet McCain never brought up his own son's service in some of the roughest areas of Iraq. His principled refusal of political advantage from his son's Iraq service extends to refusal even to be interviewed on the subject, or to introduce his son to campaign audiences.

Also little-known is the story of McCain's youngest child. As a result of a 1991 Cindy McCain visit to Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh, the McCains adopted an infant daughter dying from a host of health issues. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save the little girl's life, so the McCains, already the parents of six children, brought the child home to America, and paid for desperately needed surgeries and years of rehabilitation. That child is their teenage daughter Bridget. In fact, there was a second infant girl brought back from the orphanage that the McCains saved. She ended up being adopted by one of McCain's aides, Wes Gullett, and his wife. "We were called at midnight by Cindy," Gullett has stated, and "five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the LA airport."

This fall, Nicki will be a high school junior. Even after years of expensive medical treatment for the child, Gullett says, "I never saw a hospital bill" for her care. It is an extraordinary man who commits himself to such generous and heroic acts; it is an extraordinary politician who won't utter a word about such acts for political aggrandizement.

So, it turns out that McCain, standard-bearer of the party constantly slandered as racist, has, without fanfare, raised as his own a Bengali daughter of color. But the character demonstrations regarding his daughter are even more impressive: during his 2000 presidential run, as he was on the verge of becoming the front-runner, rogue staffers of other candidates reportedly conducted a whisper campaign in South Carolina disparaging the McCains for having a "black baby."

Yet, with every justification to unload with both barrels for such nasty politicking, and with as great an opportunity to set the record straight and tell the world about the heroics of being an adoptive father, McCain chose to shield his child by ignoring the smear. Some analysts believe that move may have ultimately cost him the nomination. But McCain has never questioned his choice. It says a lot about the man that he would readily sacrifice the pinnacle of personal political achievement to protect his family's feelings and privacy.

The contrast with other politicians couldn't be more stark. How many candidates have we heard try to score political points as they crow in the public limelight about their own brief military stints, or their wife's cancer, son's car accident, or sister's death from smoking? The contrast is consistent with McCain's internalizing the codes of honor and military conduct since his youth: the veneration of courage and resilience; the expectation of fidelity to principles of honor; the homage paid to Americans who sacrificed for their country; the nobility of service and sacrifice; the expectation that one would prove worthy of the country's trust; and the humility that comes from recognizing that there are causes and people greater than oneself. It is, in short, a contrast in character.

Character matters. In a president-and particularly in a commander-in-chief, that kind of character arguably counts more than any particular political orientation or policy. From character flows leadership, as it is character which dictates morally grounded direction and engenders public trust.

The McCains

The McCains
Photo: AP [file]

Character is critical to determining how a leader will respond to crisis. Will he reach deep within himself and in the traditions that shaped him and find the courage and grace to inspire strength and greatness? Will soldiers trust the wisdom and integrity of his decision when he orders them to war? Will he truly understand the terrible toll of war, as well as the price of appeasement? Will he make decisions based on considerations greater than cheap political expediency?

Now, ask yourself: which candidate has repeatedly demonstrated that kind of character?

The writer, an attorney, is Counsel to Republicans Abroad Israel

It is the position of State_of_America that one of the signs of greatness and leadership is humility or humbleness. It is understanding Senators, Congressmen, or other leaders prefer not to brag that their children are serving in the military during a time of War, especially in Iraq or Afghanistan. Why put an additional target on their backs for Al Qaeda or other enemies to key in on. If you look at most of America's heroes and great leaders you will find when it comes to family, religion and accalaids of heroism directed upon them, they too show the same signs of humbleness and humility as Sen McCain.

Obama Arrogance, Elitism at NALEO

Addressing the NALEO ( National Alliance of Latino Elected Officials) today, Senator Obama's arrogance and elitist attitude once again came out during the question and answer period.

Arrogance is defined by Websters dating back to the 14th century as: an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions

Elitist is defined as:

1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
2.
a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
b. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.

Since he first started running for President 18 months ago Senator Obama has made it clear he is running for his second term as President, not his first. In his answers to questions albeit interviews or appearances before groups like NALEO he will almost always slip in the presumptuous phrase "at the end of my 1st term." He did it during the Democratic Primary Debates and will continue to do it until the media finally asks "You make it sound like your 1st term will be so successful there will be a 2nd term. How do you know you will be nominated for a second term?"

In Obama's elitist and arrogant world he has already looked into the future and determined everything he does and every decision he makes will be so successful he will have to serve a second term. In his second term maybe he will be so loved that there will be a Constitutional Amendment repealing the 22nd Amendment limiting Presidents to 2 terms. Maybe this is a subtle message not only to Republicans but to Hilliary supporters, who are saying no deal and any other Democrat, don't even think about it.

To Obama words matter and he is always slow and deliberate when picking his words. His mind is racing in search of the appropriate words to answer the question in a way that cannot come back to hurt him. Ask 5 different people to repeat his position on a particular issue and because Obama is an expert in 'garbldygook' will most likely get 2 or 3 different answers. He is the definition of the perfect Teflon Man.

Obama's message to Hilliary supporters and McCain supporters: "Don't even bother voting in the fall, its over."
